A.J.Lucas believes passionately in the connection between player and instrument. He feels that the guitar should not be a barrier between the musician and their music but rather an extension of themselves and so he builds tactile guitars that one can feel a visceral connection with. As much as possible he uses reclaimed and local woods without compromising on quality. He was originally trained in architecture and his work is informed by a sense of form and structure. He builds mainly steel string flat-top and classical guitars but also makes electric guitars, mandolin family instruments and ukuleles.
I am delighted to be exhibiting at the HGGS because the show is rooted in the craft of the artisan guitar builder and maintains the highest of standards. I am in very esteemed company and it is an honour to be part of this great community.
