Di Donato Guitars was established many years ago as a workshop of bowed instruments near Venice, Italy. With great passion for legendary guitarists and the stifling rigidity in following the “Ancient Myth” of classical lutherie, brought the concept of new instruments free of every restriction without any limitation of shapes and materials, coupling wood and aluminium, which is already used for its tonal properties. Every single guitar is one of a kind in which every part fits with others, from pickups to knobs, and is crafted to answer to the personal desires and needs of each guitarist.

Since 1990, Stratmann Gitarren has been THE address for custom made electric guitars and repairs in Hannover, Germany. Guitars and basses as well as “very special” instruments are completely designed and hand-crafted using traditional tools and machinery. All stages of manufacturing are performed in the local workshop – from best selected wood to high gloss finish and the perfect setup of each instrument. Even the pickups are handwound in the workshop to meet the individual demands of the customers as well possible.

In the spacious and well equipped workshop, Thomas Stratmann also offers guitar building courses of 2 weeks with up to 5 participants.

In 2014 and 2016, we had the chance to successfully exhibit our instruments at the “The Holy Grail Guitar Show”. It was absolutely fantastic and the perfect event for guitar afficionados! We are looking forward to taking part again this year!

Tom purchased his first guitar at the age of 14. His interest led him on a passionate journey toward becoming a self-taught musician, luthier, and eventually, pickup maker. 2020 marks Tom’s 27th year of handcrafting guitars and basses. Tom “TV” Jones is internationally recognized for the handmade pickups used in guitars and basses around the globe. Tom has consulted and designed instruments and pickups for industry leaders including Gretsch, Bigsby, Fender, and Cort. According to Tom, the HGGS is a premier showcase of talent where fellow artists can admire and learn from one another’s work.

My goal is to find the perfect tone and create the best personality possible for each guitar I design. The Holy Grail Guitar Show is a highlight for luthiers!

Ulrich Teuffel established his company in 1988. In 1995 he came out with a line of conceptional instruments such as the birdfish, tesla and niwa and antonio. Despite their modern appearance these guitars always follow the construction principle of Leo Fender, Ulrich’s idol. His instruments do their job in several museums as well as in the hands of Artists such as David Torn, Kirk Hammett, Bill Gibbons or Hans Zimmer.

Building guitars has been what I had been dreaming of when I was a child. So many years later I haven’t found anything more inspiring than building guitars. It is cultural work at its full value. The HGGS shows me each year more and more how the comunity of guitar makers has built up a remarkable cultural Œuvre.

Innovative, one of a kind and a bit at the dark side of the force….

…those are Tobias Traub’s handmade instruments built in his Custom Shop in the middle of Berlin, Germany.

His guitars are not only beautiful, versatile and responsive in sound but Tobias has also his own unique way to show that potential in each Instrument visually. He has developed his own techniques for his handmade marquetry and engravings, to include his love of art, sci-fi, wood cuts- and printing… and other awesomely weird stuff.

After all, music is life! And so is the guitar!

Innovative, one of a kind and a bit at the dark side of the force… I think those narratives describe my work pretty exactly; I think they’re even pretty on point for myself. In building guitars I found my way to express the person I am, to tell stories, to inspire other people and get inspired by the ideas and wishes of the customer or just to meditate. The Holy Grail Show represents all that. That’s why I’m here.

Gunnar has been designing and building guitars since 2000. Based in Reykjavik, he works in close conjunction with his customers, sharing his passion and inspiration to provide guitars that are designed to work as an extension of themselves in their guitar playing. He collaborates with local artists and craftsmen to create guitars that both look and sound beautiful. Gunnar runs guitar courses on a regular basis for those who would like to make their own. His guitars are touring locally and internationally with some of Iceland’s top bands and musicians such as Solstafir, Vintage Caravan and Of Monsters and Men.

I can’t imagine not building guitars. It’s like breathing for me, but for the spirit. There’s always something new to discover and try. New ideas in my head. I can always push myself further. HGGS is 135 guys like me sharing the product of their passion. There’s nothing like it.

As the name suggests, the Norwegian Wood Series are made from woods that grow in Norway. Since 2003 luthier Øystein Husemoen has been building custom guitars for a wide range of customers both in Norway and abroad.

Collectors and enthusiasts, as well as major Norwegian and international artists have had their dream guitar made in his workshop in Lillehammer.

Taking a rough piece of wood through the process of becoming a one of a kind guitar is my main motivation. No other show presents the diversity of guitarmaking like The Holy Grail Guitar Show, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
