He’s passion is not just building guitars but using Australian tone woods, as Chris has said ” Over my career l have used both traditional tone woods and Australian tone woods in guitar making and have found by using the Australian woods which has many advantages of not only being sustainable but been able to create a very beautiful sounding instrument ” He has now has a workshop in Saint Salvadou in the south of France as well as Australia.
I have always loved guitar, playing was one thing, but now building a guitar and playing it is something that enriches my life every day. Now to have the chance to exhibit in the best guitar show in the world is something l have always dreamed to be part off.

Duwe-Gitarrenbau https://holygrailguitarshow.com/exhibitors/duwe-gitarrenbau/ Thu, 20 Feb 2020 13:10:53 +0000 https://holygrailguitarshow.com/?post_type=exhibitor&p=25075 When Martin Duwe was twelve years old, his first stringed instrument was a triangular one.
Since then his passion for craftsmanship  have never stopped.
In his workshop in Mainz only outstanding classical, flamenco and acoustic guitars are created, but also specialities such as special travel guitars, silent for the hotel or foldable for the plane.
Guitar and musician should fit well together. Therefore Martin Duwe puts great effort into individual consultation. It is about what is being played and how the customer envisions his instrument. This results in beautiful personal favourites that his customers’ compositions have been waiting for.
Building guitars is a passion, not a job. The fascination of creating something out of different woods that does not only look beautiful but also sounds wonderful to pleasure many people, are facets of this profession that inspire me. HGGS is the perfect place to share my passion with colleagues.

He is the originator of the Bevels on acoustic guitars as well as the Sideport Soundhole. He is also known for his groudbreaking Inlay Art. The latest book on his Inlay Art is Grand Complications–50 Guitars & 50 Stories. He has received Canada’s highest award for Craft Excellence, the Saidye Bronfman Award, as well as being given the Order Of Canada, the country’s highest civilian honour for his innovative guitar work and his contributions to Canada’s music community.

The featured guitar, “SCHOOL STRIKE”, inspired largely by Greta Thunberg, has Inlay Art that focuses on the climate crisis. But this guitar was also designed in collaboration with Kora Jünger and Frank Deimel. On two Deimel guitars Kora created art also inspired by Ms. Thunberg, but expanded the theme to include other courageous young people who are changing the world.

Kora and myself will make ourselves available for a Zoom session with any who are interested and book the event with us. The scheduled time is tentatively: both Saturday & Sunday, at 18:00 Berlin time / Noon in Toronto.

I have been playing the guitar since age 9 and loved woodworking, so becoming a guitarmaker was a logical extension, and is a career I still feel passionate about.

Jost Von Huene Guitars https://holygrailguitarshow.com/exhibitors/jost-von-huene-guitars/ Fri, 10 Jan 2020 19:48:20 +0000 https://holygrailguitarshow.com/?post_type=exhibitor&p=22404 Getting infected by the guitar-making-virus as a teenager, Jost von Huene just started to build guitars at home. He then apprenticed with Wolfgang Amman and studied instrument making in Markneukirchen. He opened his own workshop in Dresden in 2007. Since then he has specialised in making traditional and modern nylon strings. In recent years he has concentrated on the development of a modern crossover guitar- the Ellipse. The heart of this guitar is a special double top to give a good acoustic projection and resistance to feedback. Reentko, Jule Malischke, Silvio Schneider and others are playing the Ellipse around the world.

Its crazy times – in this situation its hard for me to just continue what I am doing, making nice guitars. Musicians are threatened, democracy is endangered, busyness is hard – so what to do? Do something interesting, sensible and uplifting:
The Corona Uke
Why?
-Test the superlight and fastgrowing Paulowniawood for top and neck: is it a sustainable alternative to Cedar/ Spruce and Cedro/Mahagoni?
-use of local hardwoods on Back/Sides and Fingerboard Cherry, Apple
-stay sane, doing something nice and easy

So far its working very well- i think Paulownia will certanly apear more in european instruments and helps to save the planet a little bit.
Stay safe!
Jost

Halabica Guitars https://holygrailguitarshow.com/exhibitors/halabica-guitars/ Tue, 17 Dec 2019 17:11:59 +0000 https://holygrailguitarshow.com/?post_type=exhibitor&p=21087 My guitars are not just instruments. They are a manifestation of uniqueness, a matter of taste and lifestyle. Each guitar stands out with an aesthetic balance, symmetry and master processing, that is ultimately important for me. Transformation of pure and clear sound into a tangible form, the acoustical expression of the instrument raised by the elegance of shapes lets everyone feel how much passion and perfection it is made with. My guitars are a reflection of the best craftsmanship and experience.
The hand made guitar brings me more and more new possibilities. First and foremost by sound and then by sound and the visual. I keep discovering new materials and their hidden potentials, especially the sound attributes, move me forward and offer new challenges.

Pablo Sánchez Otero Guitars https://holygrailguitarshow.com/exhibitors/pablo-sanchez-otero-guitars/ Tue, 17 Dec 2019 16:42:28 +0000 https://holygrailguitarshow.com/?post_type=exhibitor&p=20902 After learning instrument making in Spain, UK and Belgium, he’s just settled in his new workshop in A Coruña, Spain. He builds mainly classical and electric guitars, but also mandolins and other plucked instruments.
With every project, he wants to achieve three goals: sensitivity and response to the musician’s needs, comfort for the player, and aesthetics regarding shape, construction and colour. Another pillar of Pablo’s work is the careful selection of the raw material, regarding the cutting, seasoning and also the sustainability and respect towards each piece of wood. Unique instruments adapted to the needs of every musician.

I built my first guitar in 2009 and from that moment on I was absolutely got hooked on this beautiful world of guitar making. I’ve volunteered at the previous HGGS shows since the beginning and since the first one I had the dream of exhibiting here one day.

Turkowiak Guitars https://holygrailguitarshow.com/exhibitors/turkowiak-guitars/ Tue, 17 Dec 2019 16:18:14 +0000 https://holygrailguitarshow.com/?post_type=exhibitor&p=1149 Almost thirty-five years of experience and experiments in guitar making have resulted in a successful solution for the guitar neck. The world patented innovation (European Patent Office EP 3340231) ‘Acoustic Tubes’ inside the guitar neck is Rafal’s greatest achievement. The musician hears sound not only from the guitar body but also from the guitar neck. The sound is richer, sustained longer and the neck much stiffer. Rafal is also the inventor of the world’s first ‘bridge with drilled holes’, top with ‘WAVE’ type resonator and back & sides made at ‘High-Tech Press’. Thanks to noble/rich and selective sounds this luthier’s work is called ‘the Queen of Guitars’.

I’ve been creating guitars since 1986 and my first guitar was a failure. Many years of research since then have resulted in numerous innovations and the world patent ‘Acoustic Tubes’: sound comes not only from the guitar body but also from the guitar neck.
